Indignation Meeting at Woodville

A largely attended indignation meeting was held here last night on account of the Government removing the engineers I to Taranaki, and stopping the survey of the Napier- Woodville lihe. Resolutions were passed protesting against tbe action of the Government thus breaking faith with the district, and urging the restoration of the Engineer, and prosecuting of the works, and surrey as proni'ised'in the Public Works Statement. sThat5 That the prosecution of this railway was necessary for the successful settlement of huge blocks of Crown Lands shortly to be opened, and, that the'resqlp^pn be forwarded to tbe Government-tjifrough Mr ' Smith, M.H.R. Mr Smith was present, and addressed the meeting on tbe sub- ■ ject. At the close of the meeting he took the opportunity of .. briefly addressing his constituents, mainly on the question of Local Government, and was enthusiastically received.
