—r-, — ♦; The annual public ineeting of householders for the purpose of electing the school committee in accordance with the Act, was held in the schoolhouse last evening. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the "weather there was a good at- • tendance, upwards of- 50 persons being present, including most of the leading citizens. Oa the motion of Mr Bray, seconded by Mr Foster, Mr Sherwill was voted to the chair, and read from the Stab the official advertisement calling the meetings in each place in the dis- • trict respectively. He then called upon Mr Foster, secretary of tbe former committee, to read the annual report and balance-sheet . Mr Macarthur asked if the balance-sheet had been audited. The Secretary stated that it had. not, but reasons were given for the delay, and a telegram from the ; Secretary of the Board was read, saying an audit was not necessary for the purpose of the meeting. Mr Rutherford thought the»balance-sheet • ought not to. be adopted without' being ->- audited. ..'Mt Wright moved that the -* balahee-sheet be adopted, remarking that its non-adoption would be a reflection upon the committee..
