Wreck of the Barque Fusilier

About 7 o'clock last night the barque Fusilier, 400 tons, Captain Harkness, bound for Newcastle, in ballast, was driven high and dry by the furious gale then ng«g* She. lies near the muuth of the Turakina River. The crew, 13 in number, are. all safe. There seems no tope of her setting off as foot-passengers can walk fight round her. A large crowd of Tarakina, people congregated n the ' beach when i? was heard she was drifting in and apparently in distress.

The following telegram was received from the captain <>C the Fusilier this morning:— "Fusilier went ashore five miles south of Sandy Point yesterday daring the heavy N.W. gale." The Faiilieris an iron barque Of 404 tons register, owned in Liverpool and commanded, by Gaptain Harkuess. "She was bound for Newcastle.
