The Secretary of the Marine Department have received a telegram from Captain Creig of the schooner Kekeno at t ie Bluff, in which he reports that he has searched every harbor in the Auckland Island without finding any trace of the crew of the missing boat of the Sarah W. Hunt. Dunedtn. 'his Day. Affairs in the City Council reached a climax this morning, the Gas Committee were defeated in their recommendation respecting the new works, and one of their number then proposed they should be requested to resign in a body. After an extremely violent personal discussion the motion was carried by seven to tour, the Gas Committee voting for their own extinction. On the Court re-assembling in the Pearce murder case, the foreman announced the jury was unable to agree. The ju^y were discharged, and a fresh trial is fixed for Monday. Ten of the jury were for murder, and two for manslaughter. It came down at eleven to one at one time. Ohbistchcbch, January 15.
