The Anniversary

-* According to announcement a public meeting was held at the Denbigh Hotel on Saturday evening to hear the result of the last anniversary, and to consider what steps should be taken witli reft-rence to the next celebration. About twenty persons were present, and Mr Gosling was voted to the chair. Mr Heading, secretary of the former committee, read a balance-sheet, which showed the receipts from the tea and ball to hare been £15 98 Bs, and the expenditure £16 lis sd, leaving a deficit of 4' l Is 9d. It was, howerer, pointed out that as the former celebration was an experiment, and as much of the outlay was preliminary, and need uot again be incurred, tlie expenditure for tlie next anniversary need not be more than about half of the last one, and may be maniiged so as to leave a respectable balance in hand. The balance sheet as read was adopted. , After discussion it was resolved that the anniversary of Feilding.be celebrated on the 22nd of January next, and that a committee for carrying out the proceedings consist of one number of each of the following bodies:— Feilding Brass Band, Foresters,' Odd Fellows,' Rechabites,' Good Templars,' and Hibernians,' and that each of these be requested to nominate a suitable person to act on said .committee. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to Mr Reading for the efficient services as secretary for the last anniversary, and he was requested to act as interim secretary till the first meeting of the new committee, which would t be held in the Templars' Hall. A vole of thanks was given to the chairman, and the meeting dispersed.
