Death of Father Moreau
AR of. our readers who were acquainted with him wiR regret to learn of .the. death of. Father Moreau, which/ took place at the residence of the Eev. Father Kirk, Wanganui, at 4.80 yesterday morning. Father Moreau was one of the. oldest and most respected priests in the colony, and during his ministrations he has been stationed in nearly every part of it, and: wherever he has resided, he has earned the affectionate esteem of not only his co-religionists, but of the members of every class in the community. In the Manawatu his loss wiR be much deplored by both natives and Europeans. The de-: ceased father was 71 years of age, and it is believed that his death was due to a complete breaking up of the system. The funeral wiU take place at three o'clock to-morrow. The body yvas lying in< state last evening. Solemn masses were said to-day. The Rev. Father Sauzeau, of the Society of Mary, wiR officiate at the funeral. R.I.P.
