A Caution
TO THB EDITOB OF THB STAB.Sib,— As the Taonui road, enters the Harbor Board Block, some men have a contract for clearing about two miles of roadline. Atthefartherend of this line are about 800 acres of feUed bush belonging to various settlers, The contractors, instead of clearing the bush and rolling the logs off at once, are leaving the same lying, intending to burn in the usual way, and remove afterwards the logs that axe . left. As the setting fire to the bush on Uie road is likely to damage that of the' settlers by a premature burn', I think the said contractors should be cautioned either to do their clearing at once or wait tmtit ■ the proper burning season, as the consequences of doing otherwise may ; be immensely inconvenient td ns, and render them liable to prosecution for damages.— l am, &c., A ' • I One of. the SettueJbs.
