Special to "Star." (pee united press association.) Auckland, This Day. About 1000 persons assembled at the Exchange Hall to witness the sale of the wreck of the Triumph. The first lot offered was the cargo remaining on the ship, consisting of two cases, estimated value £500. The coal and 300 tons of railway iron, the whole was sold for Ll3O, Oxenham being the purchaser. The Haslem refrigerator realised L 320, W. Aitken purchaser. The bull, machining, anchor, <fee, were then offered, antl the bidding started at LSOO. The lot was knocked down at L 2,100, to W. Aitken The official enquiry, at the instance of the Collector of Customs, was called at the police court today, but was adjourned. Wellington, Dec. 13. The Australia supplementary colonial mails arrived at Frisco on the 9th nst. The Hon. Mr Eolleston leaves for Christchurch to-morrow for the purpose of being present at the opening of the Industrial Exhibition there. The Hon. Mr Dick will be the only Minister remaining in Wellington. In a quarrel at Carterton last night a cook named Anderson stabbed a woman named Mary White in the neck. The man was arrested and the woman taken to the hospital. The wound is not serious.
