Case of Horse Stealing

We are glad to learn that the two men who hired horses from Mr Morphy and departed with the intention of stealing them, have been arrested. The chase in pursuit was very interesting. The first scent was taken up at Makino, and was followed up until the culprits were arrested, one at Hawera and the other at New Plymouth, on Sunday. As they only left here on Thursday last, they made good use of their time. We learn that warrants are also out for them for horse stealing from Wellington. They will be brought down by train probably to-day. The police deserve every credit for the smart manner in which these scoundrels have been brought to justice, and Mr Morphy is to be congratulated on the recovery of his property.
