CORRESPONDENCE.

Library Books. TO THE KDITOB OF THE STAB. Sic, I noi.ice that in other towns the Public Libraries are having their lists of books nugroented by persons kindly forwarding donations of books. I Hare nofc heard oF this being done here, excepting that the Librarian informs me that he bas received one solitary volume. Now I would *ug«est that those persons who have bonks to spare, aud whose own ex» perience enables them to sympathise with. readers in want of matter, would kindly forward some of those works which they have done with to the Library. They would, in most instances, probably be new to many other readers, and it would be an ensy way of enlarging onr Public Library, which is so very desirable to be done. If they did not wish to part with the books altogether as donations/ they A might loan them for a given term, so a» to be able to regain their possession. Books are like money ; they need circulation in order to be of real use, and can do little further good by being kept, perhaps covered with dust, on the shelves of those who have " read, marked, learned* and inwardly digested" their contents long long ago. Of course the above suggestions say nothing about gifts of entirely new books which the donors themselves would, equally with others, have the opportunity of reading. — I am, <fee., A Rbapbb.
