Manchester Horticultural and Pastoral Society.
♦ The Committee of the above Society met at Mr Brad's office on Saturday erening last. Present — Messrs E. Goodbehere (Secretary), H- Worsfold, Price, Kirton, Ranger, Reading, Lucas, James, Nicholas, Towler, and Sherwill. Mr Worsfold was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The draft schedule prepared jby the Schedule Committee was read by the Secretary, and after one or two slight alterations and additions it was unanimously adopted. The matter of inviting exhibitions of poultry at the spring show was then discussed. The Secretary announced that a gentleman residing in the neighborhood whose name he mentioned, had promised several 0 valuable specimens of poultry as special prizes to competitors. A list of nine proposed exhibibits in poultry was submitted by Mr Sherwill. and it was unanimously resolved, That it form lhe schedule for poultry at the next show. It was resolved, That a prize of 10s be given for each best specimen of poultry, the same rule as to entry to apply as in other exhibits, the owners to provide their own show coops, and to tako responsibility. The Secretary was authorised to havo printed the usual number of copies of the schedule, and of members' and family tickets and also to arrange the advertising. It was resolved, That Messrs Armstrong and Haunake he the judges, and Mr Lethbridge the referee in the horticultural department of the spring show. Coi. Gorton and Mr W. D. Nicholas were appointed judges and Mr Amesbury referee in the poultry department. Resolved to meet again on Saturday November 10th at 7 p.m. The Committee then adjourned.
