Rod Traces for Lead Horses.
An experienced horseman has invented a:d used a rod-trace, made of three-quarter inch rod iron, wh eh is much better than the common leather trace for leader** in a tour-horse team. With this trace the lead ho:ses ar not annoyed by th* whiffletree rattling i around their heels when the horses J are held up ou a down grade, thus avoiding a frequent cause of kicking If a a<-rse should get down in a bad road, he could not be injured by these rods, as they would be clear above his back, if other parts of the harness were properly attached. A good, sound piece of leather tag from the old harness, will ausw-er for the piece to which the rod in riveted, and which i_ buakled to the '• hames-tug." Any biacksmith can make one at a small cost. These rods cannot be used for single teams on the pole.
