Ten p.m. Weather to-night unsettled, and appears unfavorable for the Caulfield Cup meeting to-morrow The following is the latest betting on that event: — Calma 6 to 1, Footstep 7 to 1, Fryingpan 14 to 1, Josephine 14 to 1, Norfolk 15 to 1, Belmont 20 to 1. Bosoawen is scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Hobabt, October 19. Government have decided to prorogue the Tasmanian Parliament until the 15th November, when they will re-introduce tbe Railway Bill which was recently thrown out by the Legislative Council.
Received Oct. 20, 1 a.m.l Melbottbne, This Day. The Victorian Parliament will probably be prorogued on the 2nd Nov. A severe thunderstorm passed over the city last night but the weather is now fine. No change to report in the betting on the Caulfield Cup. It is expected there will be 25 starters for tbat event.
