The ISf.Z.L St M.A. Company, report , under 3*te October 4 :— The local works at BslEfcet have been fully occupied during tie past three weeks providing meat iar the a a Doric and Fenstanton from Wellington and Dunedin respectively, now in' Lyttelton completing their loading for London. The former will carry in all about 9200 carcases, and the litter 8000, of which theijyttelton^contribHtion -will he nearly 0(KX) carcases. Account •sales of dttpments per British Queen, -display the satisfactory average of 6|d to 7^d per lb obtained in London, with a net, result of 23s to 27s per head for each carcase, including the price realized for •offal. This is considered eminently satisfactory, and ' sheuld induce greatly ex4«ndcd operations both in breeding and -fattening. , 'The local Company has arranged freight' contracts for the conveyance of over 100,660 carcases between ■this and the end of 1884.
