Collision in the Channel
I EIGHTEEN LIVES LOST. ■ At 8 o'clock on the morning of th ■ 26th August, the French steamer St ■ Germain and the steamer Woodhurn I from the East, hy way of tha sue; I Canal,, came into collision off tin I Eddystone lighthouse. The officers of th< m .French steamer had no idea there was f/ a ship in lead, but the tugboat captair states that he bad two bright lightj at the tu/s masthead, a clear indication that she had a vessel in tow.
