BETJTEB'S TELEGBA.MS. Adf.la.idk, October 11. A large sum of money is reported to be missing from the Town and Country Bank in this city. The teller, when balancing the cash on Monday last, found 850 notes missing. The police are now prosecuting enquiries, but it is understood that no clue to the robbery has yet been obtained.
Received Oct. 13.1 Melbourne, This Day. Britisher and Ironclad hare been scratched for the Cup. JSews has been received from Waratah Bay that Martin Reiberg. the Aroca gold robber, has been drowned there. The Argus to-day publishes a telegram from Capt Armit, its special correspondent, announcing his return from New Guinea, ill with fever, and with all but one of his party suffering. Professor Denton, he states, died from exhaustion after a severe attack of fever.
