Our Race Meeting.

V Spectator, in the Wanganui Herald, says . — ln connection with the Autumn Meetings, I should like to see the Waverley March meeting done away with altogether, and the Egmont meeting come on the date. This would avoid clashing between the Hawera and the Fielding meetings, and one meeting a year should be plenty for Waverley, seeing that it is so close to Wanganni, and that the Turakinaites have their annual meeting so soon before the Wanganui Autumn meeting. It is to be hoped that the Egmont (Hawera) Club will this year consider the prior right of the Fielding Club to Easter Monday, aad not fix on that date again this year as it has been proposed to do. At tho meeting of the Kgmont Clnb held on Friday last some of the members raised the question of clashing with Taranaki, Wanganui, and Waverley Clubs, bui appeared to overlook Feilding. The committee have only to be reminded that about half a dozen horses ran there last year, which were also entered for the Egmont races ; but as they conld not bo at both places on the some day, the owners had to choose between the two. In tho same way horses entered for the Feilding Races did not go there, bnt found there way to Hawera. One member stated that he wished to see clubs agree so as to avoid, if possible, any collision of interest* and this is tbe wish of members of tbe Egmont Club generally, so we may expect to hear of some arrangement being come to, so far as the Egmont and Fielding Clubs are concerned, as power was given to the committee of the first-mentioned club to alter the date, if thought advuaMgji
