Oroua County Council.
An ordinary meeting of the abore Council was held in Manchester Road Board's office, Feilding, to-day at 11.30. Present — Councillors Macarkhnr (chairman), Sly, Douglas, Lmton, Engels, Mcßeth. Walker, and Skerman. The minutes of the last previous meeting were read and confirmed. A long precis of correspondence, both to and from the Council, the publication of the whole of which would be of little interest, was then read. Resolved, on the motion of Cr Sly seconded by Cr Linton, That the Council nominate Mr Frunk Lethbridge as Warden for .No. 1 ward of the Manchester Road Board District. Resolved, on the motion of Cr Sly, seconded by Cr Linton, That Mr Richardson be allowed to erect a temporary fence on the south side of Palmerston .md Foxton road, in front of his section, to be remored at the demand of Council without any compensation. Resolved, on the motion of Cr Skerman, seconded by Cr Engels, That the report of the committee of the Ftzher— bert and Taonui Hidings re appointment of engineer be adopted. Mr W. Baker's application for a license to slaughter on his section on Makino road was granted on the usual conditions on payment of a fee of £3. Resolved, That Mr' Armstrong be requested to act as Inspector of Slaughterhouses under the Act in the Ridings of Taonui and Fitz^erbert and to receive the fees as remuneration. Mr Bray was also appointed Slaughterhouse Inspector for Waitnna, Kiwitea, and Ashurxt Ridings on the same terms. Resolved, That the name of David Tremewan be placed npon the roll instead of H. L. Sherwill for section 53. The Johnski family were allowed £2 per week during the pleasure of the Council, to date from same day. Resolved, That notice be giren thai; the bridge orer the Mangaone Creek, Palmerston and Fozton road, is dangerous for heary traffic. Resolved, That tenders be called for collecting the rates in the Orona County; tenders to be optional for the whole county or for each riding respectively. The Council then went into committee for the purpose of opening and discussing tonders for works. On the Council resuming its ordinary sitting it wag Resolved, That the tenders for road making on Mackay's road be rejected. Albo, That the engineer call for tenders for forming and metalling Mackay's Line from the end of the present metal to Mr Cummingham's corner, and for formation abore the Kiwitea stream as far as the balance of the grants will do, tenders to be in by the next meeting of the Council. Cr Douglas was authorised to sign cheques for payments passed at this meeting, in place of Cr Bailey, who is absent. Resolved, That the engineer be instructed to lay off the deviation of Maokay's road, and that the sum of £13 be paid for purchase of the same on a title being giren by the owner of the land taken. Resolred, That a rate ot fd in the £ be struck at the next meeting of the Council on all rateable property within the Countj for the period ending 3 1st March, 1884, the same to be payable in one sum on 20th October. 1883. Resolved, That the Engineer call for tenders for works on the BunnythorpePalmerston and Stoney Creek roads, tenders to be in before next meeting. (Left sitting.)
