In answer to many enquiries, we ar° €lad to be able to state trom personal knowledge that the unfortunate bushman, John Wells. i« progressing as favorably as possible under the circumstances. The fractured portions of the injured limb are advancing towards re-unity in a xery satisfactory manner, but the poor fellow's peneral health is of course much impaired from, hi* sufferings and confinement to his bed. He speaks most gratefully of tke three medical gentlemen who took part in the operation so successfully performed upon him, of the skill and unremitting attention of Or Lightbourne, and the kind interest in his case which it beinjr. shown by his fellow citizens generally. His recovery, though sure, must necessarily be somewhat slow, and is eipected to take from 9 to 12 months from the time o£ the accident. We would here caJI attention to the half-crown subscription tickets which have been printed for Mr Sterens the postmaster, in aid of Mr Wells and his family. These are now in circulation, and will, we doubt not, be extensively pmrchased for this deserving object.
