+ [BY. BCBIMMi.OE.] What will probably be the final match of the season eame off on Saturday last I on the Feilding Oval between the Palm- 1 erston and Feilding Clubs. The ground i was ia capital order, but the weather was j rather Warm. The following men rep re- j seated their respective townships : — , Eeildiajs— Sherwill, back; Thomson and Boe, half backs ; H. and C. Halcombe, quarter backs; Dawson, Taunt, Bray, Saunderson, Lethbridge, Booth, Hudson, Crichton, and • ; Goodb_here, forwards. Palmerston — Ga verb ill, back ; Salmon, „ three-quarter backs; P. Smith and Allan, „*. half backs; Palfcridge and Strachan, quarter backs; Hounslow, Haultain, -y Newman; diaries, Belfit, E. Smith, Stallard, Snow, and J. Moffat., forwards. As the Feilding team was one short, Walker, the Palmerston emergency, kindly consented to play for them, and right well he did so. The ball was kicked off by Hounslow at 3.20 p.m, tbe wind being slightly in favor of Feilding, For some time the play was very even, neither '-■■"' aide gaining any advantage. After some ten minutes play, Thomson obtained a mark in front of the Palmerston goal, but was not successful with the kick not allowing sufficient for the wind. Soon after this Thomson maie a really good run but was coUared by Paltridge. "" "Walker then got hold of the leather, and ' after some sm»ft travelling succeeded in touching it down behind the Palmerston quarters, and Dawson succeeded in kicking * goal , Soon after this the first spell of 40 minutes ended. During the second spell Stallard made a grand run, but was collared rather too soon. Some very even play ensued. The pleasure .f the game was. however, much marred by the 'amount 'of disputing whioh now took place. It seems a pity that the captains do not call their respective teams to order, and not allow them to positively intimidate lhe umpires. Taking the game aU through, tbe play was very even and the leather was kept well Among the forwards most of the time. Among those who distinguished themselves for Pal- * "inerston were Balmon, Paltridge, Snow* ;i "fltJri«_fah, Hounslow, Haultain, Stallard f \ "'■'■ awL Newman, whilst Thomson, Dawson, C|^4^ombe, JTaunt, L_.^^? r .*S4,^ ric^" >!r Ifik $*/$ fsJ%> WW*' es f r ?
