The .even Irishmen recently arrested at Glasgow, charged with complicity in blowing up the gasometer in that city in January last, have been committed for trial. The French Press disavows any intention of annexing the New Hebrides. The Marquis Tseng has intimated that it will be regarded as a declaration of war if the French attempt to reinforce while the parleying is going on. Chatham Dockyard is bury preparing and despatching reinforcements to the fleet in Chinese waters, and a German squadron has been ordered to cruise in those parts to re-assure German residents. Th<> Euphrates, from Adelaide, has arrived at Falmouth damaged, having collided with a barque off Ushant. Hanlou has challenged Laycock to a match for £2,000, to be rowed on the Thames. The efforts being made in Bulgaria to Russianize the people in defiance of the wishes of Prince Alexander are likely to cause som» strain in the relations between Russia and Germany. Received Sept. 13, 0.55 a.m. Pabis, September 11. The directors of the Suez < 'anal Compan} r have decided to introduce from the Ist January, 1884, some modification of existing regulations under which traffic through tbe canal is conducted. Among other things, the company have decided to reduce dues payable by vessels in ballast, ond to undertake charges for floating ships that may become stranded in passing through the canal. The Temps, in its issue to-day, announces that the British Government has agreed to mediate between France and China for the settlement of the difficulty in Tonquin. Admiral Pierre, who Teceatly arrived here after resigning the command of the French forces in M adagascar on account of ill health, died to-day.
