From all quarters remarks are made o£ the extraordinary number of twin lambs. that are being dropped this season, and were the weather more favorable the percentage would be surprisingly large, but the last few days of unkind weather ha» been* fatal to many. The steamer Napier arrived at the i Port ou Wednesday from Patea after a very stormy passage, and left again on Thursday with a full ca'go of live stock. A committee meeting of the Horticultural Society was held on -Monday last, when a secretary ; was appointed. The Society seems to have taken a new lease of life. Ihe subcommittee men who were appointed to canvass for donations, viz., Messrs Moore, Scott and Sopp, have met with great-encouragement, and the forth coming shows promise to be as successful as any that hare been held under the auspices of the Society. Our Police and R.M. Courts are still in an unfinished state; though 'the contractor has completed his contract weeks ago.
