— ♦ [By ScßiMMi.as.] At Thomson has been asked to play in Wellington on Saturday next against the Auckland .team, it has been decided to ask Wanganui to postpone the Wanganui t Oroua match (ill after the 15th inst., 10 that in all probability it will come off on the 22nd, if at all. Practice? were held both at Palmerston and Feilding on Saturday. At Palmerston & scratch match was played .between sides chosen by Carerhill and Salmon, resulting in a win ▲ for the former, who became towards the «nd of the game vastly superior in numbers. Stallard showed seme really grand forward play, whilst Salmon was " all there" as half-back. Several young Maoris joined in the game and showed themselves by no means behind their pakeha friends in energy. Where they fell short wag in the knowledge of the rules. If they would make themselves a little more acquainted with these, they would prove very formidable antagonists to any team, as they are possessed of considerably strength and speed. I hope they will tmrn out every Saturday during the rest of the season, for they will then hare a fair chance of joining our representatives in the contest with Wanganni.
