Feilding Borough Council
A special meeting of the Council was held on Thursday evening in the Council Chamber for the purpose of confirming the resolution passed at a previous special meeting that a rate of Is in the £ be struck to cover the interest on the Borough Loan. Present-Crs Lewers, Goodbehere, Worsfold, Rutherford. Sherwill, and Fowles. In the temporary absence of the Mayor, Cr Sherwill was votpd to the chair. The resolution, which has already been published, was read. Br Goodbehere moved and Cr Worsfold seconded that it be confirmed.
The Mayor here took his seat and pu t the motion for confirmation to the Council, aad it was carried unanimously.
OBDINABY MKETING
An adj ourned ordinary meeting of the Council was then held.
The Mayor and the above-mentioned Cr« were present and also Crs Loudon, and Thompson.
The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed.
There were no reports or correspondence.
Cr Loudon proposed, That plans and specifications be at once prepared by the Engineer for the road along the railway Line from North street to Port street.
This was seconded by Cr Worifold, who.Jin speaking to the motion, regretted that the Public Works Committee's report had not been adopted.
The motion was put to the Council and carried.
Cr Thompson spoke of what he considered the unsatisfactory list of periodicals with which it was intended to supply the Library.
Cr Fowles said there were! two journals teamed in the report which would only be read by one or two individuals, and thought they might be replaced by others of a more generally useful character.
The Mayor, while not expressing any opinion on the list, said that at the end of six months any of the periodicals could be stopped and others ordered in their stead.
Cr Worsfold wai of opinion that a change in one or two of the periodical! was desirable.
After some further conversation the matter dropped.
Resolved, on the motion of Cr London, seconded by Cr Rutherford, 'that the next meeting be held on Thursday, Sept. 6th, at the same hour and place.
The Council then adjourned.
