Judgment was delivered to-day in the contempt of Court case. The proprietors of the Sydney Morning Herald were found guilty, and sentenced to pay a fine of £250, on account of articles published in their journal commenting unfavourably upon the conduct of Mr Justice Junes in connection with the Islander case, Anderson v. the same defendants. There are no alterations to report in the betting market. Le Grand is coming into favour for the Australian Jockey Club Derby. Heavy rains have fallen over a large portion of the colony since last night. Keceived Sept. 1, 1.15 p.m.! Sidney, August 31. It is considered probable the proposed Intercolonial Conference on the Annexation question will be held here, and will take place about the beginning of November. Martini- Henri and Legrand are now favorites for the A.J.C. Derby.
