PARLIAMENTARY.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Wbllin&ton, August 28. BO6SEIX EXCHANGE OF LAND BILL. Mr Sheehan opposed the Bill because the arrangement made was with a Government agent who was acting in collusion with Russell. Messrs Montgomery and Moss opposed the Bill, while Sutton supported it. Fitzgerald upheld the transaction. On a division a motion to adjourn the debate was lost by 34 to 23, and the Bill was read a second time, and, on the motion of Major Atkinson, referred to the Waste Lands Committee. Mr Bryce moved the second reading of the Native Reserves Bill. It related to Greymouth and Middle Island West Coast Reserves. Messrs Montgomery, Sutton, and Maedonald opp <sed the Bill as unfair to Native owners. Messrs Petrie, Seddon, and Hurst house supported, and Tawhai opposed it. Air Deiantour thought that as Native Reserves Bill only applied to the property of certain Natives of Greymouth, it was clearly a private Bill, and could not be treated as a public one. The Bill was read a second time and referred to Joint Committee to determine whether it is a public or a private Bill. The House rose at 3 a.m.
