. + An adjourned ordinary meeting of the Council was 1 held in the Council Chamber * on Thursday evening. Present: The Mayor, and Councillors Goodbehero, Rutherford, Worsfold, Loudon, Sherwill and Thompson.-, The minutes of the last ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. . Cr Sherwill asked the Mayor if any steps had been taken .to secure a share in the £6000 Library grant from the Govern*^, ment. The Mayor replied that it was not yet the time to make the application, but that would doubtless be done in due course, and the Borough would be able to chum its share in the grant, as there was now. a revenue to the Library. The, following correspondence was then rcr.d : — From Mr Beaufort, Librarian^ re his remuneration, <fec. .From the Secretary ofthe General Post fjffice acknowledging request from the Mayor for the appointment ' of a letter .■ai-rier, regretting that the request could " l "' iet be acceded to. ; Cr Loudon moved that tho report of tho / finance Coinmittee be* adopted, which j- '
