A Prophesy Fulfilled.

The Wairarapa Standard in its leading article of the 30th July, writing of the informer, James Carey, said — " That unhanged miscreant will be execrated and hounded down while he exists, and probably, when the fitting opportunity comes, be done to d^ath by the agents of those whom he betrayed. The world would hear of James Carey's sudden death by any means, with indifference. There would only be one infamous scoundrel the less left upon the face of the etfrth." On the lame day, the 30th, the news was wired of the assassination of the wretched man on the 29th. Thus, while the ink of the article quoted was yet wet, the prophesy had been fulfilled.
