Female Graduates.
A remarkable scene took place at the University of London on presentation day. No fewer than 24 female students in academic dress were awarded honors, and out of this large number 16 obtained the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Two ladies, named Scharlieb and Shove, obtained medical degrees. One came all the way from India, that she might qualify herself by a course of study in obstetrics for practice amongst native wo en in that country. The two medical ladies vc-re introduced to the Chancellor (Lord Granville) by Mrs Garrett Anderson, who could not fail to contrast the present position of the question with what it was 21 years ago, when the University authorities declined to admit her as a medical student. The change which has since taken place in the large group of questions connected with the education and status of women is simply marvellous. i
