Manchester Rifles.
« — There was a meeting of the. council held at Mr Goodbehere' s office last night. Present— Sub-Lieut. Blackmore (in the chair), Sergts. Evans, and Nicholas (secretary), Vols. Kirton, Dawson, Earle, Wright and Goodbehere. It was resolved that the anniversary of the corps be celebrated by a ball to be held on Friday, August 31st, and that the price of tickets to admit a gentleman and two ladies be 10s, and thaGjfche committee to carry out the affair consist of Capt. Lethbridpe, Sergt. Nicholas, Vols. Kirton, Goodbehere and Roe. A letter from MrFowles, the secretary of the band, was read in which the members offer to join the corps if the corps will purchase two instruments not to exceed £25 in cost. The offer was accepted. Vol. Earle, who is about to leave for Patetere, handed in his resignation which was accepted with regret. Vol. Earle will be transfcred to an Auckland corps. 1 The council then adjourned.
