HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Wellington, July 23. CHABITAELE GIFTS DUTIES BILL. Sir George <^rey moved the second reading of the Charitable Gifts Duties Exemption Bill, which wound encourage people to assist in founding a nation, instead of using their wealth to found families. — Major Atkinson would not oppose the second reading, but the Bill would require alteration in details in committee. Messrs Shrimski, Feldwick, and Swansor. supported the Bill, which was then read a second time. SC'IOOL COMMITTEES BILL. The School Committees Election Bsi (Steward) passed through committee after a long discussion on various clauses without substantial alteration. The proviso abolishing cumulative voting was carried by 43 to 9. The Bill was reported with verbal amendments, and the House rose at 12.35.
