Redwood and Holmes left for Wellington by the last steamer, for the purpose of obtaining information relative to the establishment of a Meat Freezing Company here. Patea, This Day. Much interest is awakening here re the frozen meat question. Communications have been sent to Auckland and Wellington Companies, inquiring upon what terms they would erect works here. A public meeting is to be held to-night to consider the hospital question. There is a strong feeling against the institution being closed. Later. At a public meeting held last night to consider the question of keeping the hospital open, it was unanimously resolved that such was desirable, and a committee was appointed to take steps to ascertain tho best means of forming a Hospital Board, and the amount ot money likely fo be subscribed in the district. Auckland, This Day. A man named Oddie is missing from Brown's Bay. He was believed to oo suffering from mental aberration. Arrived — Australia, 3.30 a.m. In coming to her berth, through bad management she ran into tho end of the railway wharf, carrying away about 15 feet of the structure, and damaging the schooner Energy alongside. The mail steamer also sustained injury, and will have to be repaired before proceeding this afternoon. She brings specie from Sydney for 'Frisco, £1350. Sir Henry Parkes and Archibald Forbes are passengers for 'Frisco. Dunedin, This Day. Mr and Mrs Wain were brought up and sentenced this morning. The male prisoner pleaded that the Judge might be merciful on his wife's account. The Judge sentenced each to seven years' penal servitude. Sailed — Steamer, Port Jackson, for Sydney. The Arcade has changed hands, Kennedy, of New York, purchasing for £15,000.: ____ __. _
