Tn the House of Corr .~r^ to-day, Mr Fawcett, Posfmaster-G^- »ral, stated in reply to a question that in consequence of the disturbance at Brindisi the next overland mail had been ordered to proceed direct from Port Said to Plymouth, without cailing at any Mediterranean ports. Received July 10. 1230 a.m. Melbourne, This Day. ■■<-. Mr Service, the Premier, has received a telegram from the Agent- General in London, stating that public opinion in England is favorable t« i'ic establishment of a protectorate ov r New Guinea and New Hebrides. Mr Murray Smith suggests that the Colonies s] ould make further collective proposals 'o the Impe.ial Government, offering to pay a share of the expenses of establishing a protectorate. __■_—-
