RICH GOLD FIND AT TERAWITI
[per united press association, j Wellington, This Day. A meeting of members whose district includes Boroughs or Road districts was held here to-day to consider certain amendments in the laws relating to Municipalities. A committee was appointed to submit certain suggestions to the Statutes Revision Committee. Considerable excitement prevails about the Terawhiti Gold Field, owing to the reported striking of a gold bearing reef in the golden crown claim. Shares in this company rose from 4s to 10s, and at a meeting of shareholders last night Mr C. Mace announced that a rich reef, four feet thick, had been struck, bearing stone superior to reefs which he had known to crush 6 to 8 ounces per ton. Mr E. Mace, the mine manager, confirmed this. Shares this morning have advanced to 17s 6d, and shares in other claims are also rapidly rising. Napieb, This Day. Joseph Healey, a well-known drover, lost his life under peculiar circumstances on Sunday. The deceased and two others were engaged in crossing sheep over the Waipawa Eiver. Deceased died from exhaustion. Wanganxji, This Day. Tiio p.s. Huia broke her shaft while going to Wellington. Ihe Tui towed her back to-day.
