Special to "Star." reuter's telkqrams. Received June 21, 2.20 p.m. London. June 20. Telegrams to hand from Madagascar report that the French commander is content with the position occupied at Tamatave, and has decided not to advance upon the capital. It is announced that Mr Gurdon has been appointed British Envoy to the Transvaal, to open negotiations for a revision of the Anglo-^oer convention, I Amsterdam, June 20. A serious fire occurred to-day at the dock yard in this city. The Dutch warship lying in the dock was totally destroyed, and great damage was done to other property. Capetown; June 20. The death is announced to-day of Bishop Colenso, of Natal, aged 69 years.
