"When the train from Invercargill to Riverton was approaching the latter place last night, the driver noticed a dark object in front of the engine. The engine was stoped, and it was found that a man named Jeremiah Regan had been caught by the cow-catcher and carried 200 yards. On being taken to the Riverton Hospital, Eegan's skull was found to be severely lace rated, his left arm was broken in two places, his back bruised, and he had also sustained concussion of the brain.
