A Lesson to Loafers.
One of those • harpies who prey upon .confiding hotelkeepets was beautifully sold last night. It appears that for the past three weeks one of this class had been living in a hotel not a thousand miles from Terrace End, who concluded that at the end of this period it would be profitable and a saving of money to select another site for hia labors. Hay« ing this opinion he boarded a passing train and was safely landed in Feilding, where he proposed to- stay the night, to decide on his future proceedings. Un_w happily frr him his movements had been closely watched by his boniface, who followed him up by another route, and crossed him as he was about to take a second departure by train. He was peremptorily ordered to stop and " shell out." > .A.t first he declined, whining out a lying tale of poverty, but when he saw his enemy pulling off his coat to give ffee'doni* to ! his movements if further persuasion was needed, his unwilling hand sought his pocket and the amount was duly handed over, which was wise on his part, as from what we know of the landlord in question he stood a big chance of suffering from pains in his bones and hide for several days.
