The coronation of the- Csar" tooi place at the Church of A ssumption within the precincts of the Kremlin, and in accordance with the programme previously announced. The ceremony passed off with the greatest tclat, and success, in the presence of one of the' most ßrilliant assembly erer seen, including princes, ambassadors and distinguished foreigners of all nations. Among those -who witnessed the ceremony were the Duke of Edinburgh, M. Waddin^ton, And Lord Wolseley. The ceremony was conducted throughout in strict accordance, with the ancient custom, the high dignataries of the Greek Church taking a prominent part in the rite. The city wot «ft fete and magnificently decorated with flags and banners, and festivities were organised in all parts. In the evening there was a general illumination, eLoJric light being displayed from flic Kremlin, and other points, and the streets were^bronged with thousands of enthusiastic spectators. ; -, /,-7 ..' ■ '■■
