Mr Harris at Warrengate.
«. A tea meeting was held at Warrengate (says the Wanganui Herald) a few days ago, to welcome Mr Harris, late of Halcombe, the incoming teacher. On the motion of Mr H. Sergeant, the chairman, a hearty vote of welcome to Mr Harris was carried by acclamation. Mr Harris, in responding, thanked those present for such an expression of welcome. He could not express all he desired, but he would just say he felt himself among friends. His bark had been tempesttossed for some months, hither and thither, but had at last anchored, or at any rate attained a desired haven. No doubt the people of the Warrengate district had seen his name in public print, but whatever may have been the cause of that, or whatever people might think, he would try to prove to the people of Fordell and Warrengate that he was not deserving of such treatment. He would do his best during his short stay to place the school on a good basis, and earnestly solicited the co-operation of parents by sending their children regularly and punctually to school. After a hearty vote of thanks had been accorded the ladies who presided over and arrranged the teS^and a special vote of thanks to Miss McDowell, who conducted the music and singing, a very pleasant evening was brought to a close. We congratulate Mr Harris on his lines having fallen in pleasant places, and the people of Foruell and Warrengate in having secured the services of an able scholar and gentleman in Mr Harris.
