It has been ascertained that the AgentGeneral for New Zealand has not received any tenders for direct steam service between Isew Zealand and England. In the House of Commons last night precedence was voted to the Affirmation in Lieu of Oaths Bill, upon the motion of Mr Gladstone. The trial of Edward McCnfferty, one of the alleged four actual assassins, commences at Dublin to-day. So many of the Irish prisoners having volunteered to become informers, the Government is seriously embarrassed in selecting those whom it accepts as Queen's evidence. Keefe has been executed for a murder at Cork. A letter addressed to Mr Forstcr, containing explosives, has been discovered by the Post Office officials, who stopped its delivery. Amsterdam, May 1. The International Colonial Exhibition was opened here to-day with great eclat. The various colonial courts are well arranged, and make a splendid show of | the product of the colonies.
