George Williams, in his charge, dealt principally with Massey's case, an outline of which he gave He concluded by saying that the question for the jury was, did the male prisoner, having debentures in his custody for purpose of exchanging them, instead of exchanging, sell them through the female prisoner", and appropriate the proceeds. John Gardiner, for larceny, was sentenced to six months hard labor.
