•An 'unsuccessful attempt was made to«3ay to have a place appointed at Awahuri to poll the votes of ratepayers on the »question of the Foiton-Sanson tramway •scheme, on the 28th inst. As a considerable number of electors reside in the immediate -vicinity of that village, it <would be a saving of expense to them by -laving a polling place there as well as at It appears that the County •Chairman, to whom application" was anade, has no power to make the appointanent, consequently a good many ratepayers will not be able to record their wotes.
