The Makino-Feilding Band,
The Makino- Feilding Brass Band consists of twelve performers. The instruments are new, and have been obtained from Mr C Reich ardt of Lambton Quay, "Welliagton. Tii-y 'Comprise tno first, and one second cornet, piccolo, two saxiiorns, baritone, euphonium, bombardon, and bass and side drums. The members •are already able to get through several simple exercises and other pieces rather creditably, and we hear it is their intention to make their first march out to (Peiiding on or about the Queen's birthday. We believe thafc about £35 will be to fully furnish the band, towards which at present only about £10 has been subscribed. Much credit is «lue to all the members of the band for the energy they- have displayed in the matter, bnt especially to Mr John Curreen, the leader, and Mr Harry Fowles, the secretary, and we feel sure they will meet with the encouragement they deserve, especially when the time comes that they will entertain the inhabitants -of the district with their musical performances. We shall be happy to receive •the donations of any person wishing to assist tbe band by subscribing to its {funds.
