CHEESE AND BUTTER FACTORIES.

As we predicted when we gave publicity to the fact of the farmers on the Manchester Block proposing to establish a Cheese and Butter Factory, the settlers in Campbelltown have determined that tiie machinery imported by the Messrs Campbell Bros., for that purpose, shall not be allowed to lie idle or go into the market. We learn from (he Foxton Herald that a meeting of the Campbelltown settlers took place in the schoolroom ©n -Saturday night last, to consider the Adrisabilrty of establishing a Cheese and S&eoa Paetory. The numerous attend«nce conclusively proved that great interest was manifested. Mr James Beid <of Rich and Co.) was called to the ihair, and in the course of his address pointed out to his hearers tLe many advaatages they would derive, were such #n establishment erected amongst them, by their co-operative efforts. On the .conclusion of Mr Reid's veiy forcible and pertinent^ remarks, an animated discusgio* .took place, eliciting various expresflions of opinion, which resulted in an onerinious resolution to the effect that it wm desirable that such a factory as the ,one proposed be established in Campbelli»wn. A committee was at once nominated to obtain such data as would guide the settlers ra their future deliberations on this important question. The gentlemen elected were Messrs 0. Anderson, j p. Costall, Davies, Greig, Kennedy, Reid ! a»d Ransom. The meeting then sepa- J rated after giving a hearty vote of thanks I to Mr Reid for the prompt energy he nad displayed in convening the meeting and collecting the information he had inst communicated fo them. The committee appointed at the Campbelltown Bottlers' meeting re Cheese and Bacon Factoryrbave lost no time in commencing their investigations. One of their number; (Mr Wm. Davies), has been deputed to go to the South Island tor the purpose of a personal inspection j>f the factories already established there.
