CORRESPONDENCE.

THE ItOAD QUESTION. TO THE EDITOE OP THB FETIDINCJ STAB. Sib,— Who is it that cries out so about the want of roads in the Wanganui Harhor Block P I am sorry for him, of course, but does he think that his is the only part of the country where there are no roads P If so, he is nnder a grave mistake. I presume that as he has no road out from his property he has never been able to visit any other portion of the Kiwitea, or he would find many other settlers as badly off in this particular as himself. Has he ever seen Mackay's Line, I wender? If not, I can assure him it is a caution, and what it will be before the winter is over can be easily imagined. I think the best thing we can do is to start a baloon express, to convey ourselves and our goods to and from the more civilised centres, as it will soon be impossible to travel in any other way. My only fear, however, is that if we do this Messrs Williamson, Mcßeth, and others who are said by your correspondent, no doubt with some degree of troth, to have done so much in tbe matter of roads, will not feel the necessity of doing anymore. My object ia writing is to give yonr correspondent what little consolation he may be able to get out of the fact that he and his fellow settlers on the Harbor Block are not alone in their sufferings and grievances. — I am, &c, .
