TEA MEETING.
* The Rev. J. Clover was formerly pastor of the Primitive Methodist Church in Feilding and the Manawatu circuit. At the last district meeting of that body he was again appointed to' the same sphere of labor, to succeed the Rev. 'J', Sadler, and. as already reported in these columns, commenced his public duties on Sunday last by preaching in the above place of worship, and according to custom, a public tea and meeting were held oa Tuesday evening, to accord him a welcome on the part of the congregation and his old friends. Owing to the inclemency of the weather, the attendance was not so large as it probably would otherwise have been, but a good number nevertheless sat down to an excellent tea provided by the ladies of the congregation, and a larger number still were present at the meeting held afterwards. Mr J. C. Thompson was voted to the chair, and after a few appropriate remarks he tendered the rev. gentleman a hearty welcome, and called upon the Rev. H. M. Murray, who gave a very neat speech, in which he said he was glad to welcome Mr Clover as a fellow worker in the vineyard of the Church. The Rev. J. Clover delivered an able address. He was glad to find so many of his old friends looking so well and happy, and still working together in the good work of the Church. The addresses were interspersed with hymns by the choir, and a pleasant evening was brought to a close by the usual compliments to the chairman, and the ladies who provided the tea.
