Auckland, This Day. Traffic through the Suez Canal is still impeded, owing to the stranding of the steamer Teutonia. A deputation from the Charey Organisation Society have waited upon SirC. Dilke, to urge upou him the necessity of recommending the Government to vote a sum of money to assist persons desirous to emigrate to the British colonies. It "was pointed out that arrangements might he made by which these advances could be repaid on emigrants becoming settled in their new homes. Serious disturbances have taken place amongst soldiers of Molidi. or the False Prophet, Soudan, and it is probable that a, portion of his followers will consequently desert. The Times this morning published a letter from Lord Fitzroy, which discusses the encouragement of emigration to the British colonies. The writer objects to money being voted out of rates for assistance to emigration, but thinks that the various colonies should pass emigration votes. The colonies should impose two conditions, viz., that immigrants should pay a proportion of their own passage money, and that only those shouldbe assisted who possess vigorous health, and are fitted for active manual labor. Mr Dale, M.A., prominent minister of the Congregational Churcb and an eminent writei on theological subjects, has been nominated as Rector of the Glasgow University. The Spanish Government has resolved to strengthen their garrisons, and add seveialnew men-of-war to their fleet. Several additional explosions of gunpowder have taken place at Rome, and the greatest uneasiness prevails in the c^y. ■ I
