CAPTAIN EDWIN AND THE BROKEN GLASS.

- ♦ A fresh told tale and a true one reaches tis from Foxton. The genial wag who runs the weather observatory in tbat town had broken his barometer, and had made repeated application to Captain Edwin to replace it. So far this has not heen. done, and yesterday, upon receipt of telegraphic instructions from the captain to " watch his barometer in view of approaching change," the funny deputy weather regulator indulged in a slight sarcasm by replying promptly, " I liave'nt time to watch the old frame, but have set my spotted pointer dog on to it."
