A SHOCKING MURDER.

♦ (pee united pkess association.) Mklboubne, March 1. A horrible murder has been committed at Ballingaroch, near Gisborne, by a wellknown resident, Thomas O'Donneil, who got up at 6 o'clock in the morning and went into the bedroom where his wife was sleeping, and there, with an axe, n^irly severed the head from the body. He then woke up a son, aged about 13, and told the boy that the mother was dead. Death was instantaneous. O'Donneil, who was highly respected, and in good circumstances, is supposed to be insane, as for several days past he has complained about his head. The murderer has been arrested.
