SHOCKING IMMORALITY.
. > A shocking 1 case of immorality came before the Hotbam Police Oourt, Victoria, the. other day. A young man named John Huxley was charged with abducting a girl named Augusta Wittenberg, under the age of 16 years. It appeared that the girl, who worked at Messrs. King, Harcourt and Williams's drapery establishment, left her parents' home, in Beiidigo-street, Hotham, on the 15th nl t., add did not return untill the 22nd. On the latter date the girl's, father met Huxley and asked bini what he had done with his daughter to which he replied that she was not with him. Augusta Wittenbe^sr was called and stated that on the 14th of January, Huxley mci her. and asked her to go away with him. She consented, and they went to the house of a Mrs Rainsbury, i n Moor- street, Fitzroy, where she. stayed for two ni«hts. In reply to Mr Daly, who defended Huxley, the girl stated that although she was ouly 16 years of age she had a child twelve months ago. The Bench agreed ty adjourn the case for seven, days.— Argus.
